Namesco Hosting Review and Comparison

Save money on Namesco Hosting packages with lower cost and greener alternatives for hosting Joomla, Wordpress, Forum and OSCommerce sites.
clipped from www.weycrest.co.uk
Rather than spend hours comparing UK Web Hosts Weycrest are doing it for you! Namesco think they have a great starter package, but not when you compare their features and prices with the Weycrest Personal Plan. This comparison will also apply to all of Namesco's other brands which include Simply.Com, Cheapnames.co.uk, CheapDomainNames.co.uk, Net2.co.uk, 123domainnames.co.uk, XSessions.com, NDO.com and Names123.com

Details accurate as at 23 April 2008. We have also given the Namesco the benefit by including their "half price" special offer for the first year, so Namesco prices are only correct for the first year. The following year they would double in price.

PLEASE READ - THIS AFFECTS YOUR EMAIL ACCESS & SECURITY **

We recently wrote to request that you update your email user passwords and email client settings. If you have already taken action, please disregard this email, otherwise please read on.

[NB – as far as I can see they had NOT written to me previously]

We have identified that users associated with the domain(s) listed below have a local email program configured to collect email in a way that means passwords are not secure. We are here to help you improve your online security and are therefore requesting that you make 2 simple changes by the end of today:
• Change your email user passwords only for the Usernames marked with * listed below
• Change the security setting in local email programs to a more secure SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) connection and update to your new password in that email program for all Usernames listed below

By the end of today we will be with drawing support for insecure email authentication and in order to avoid mail service disruption, you need to make these changes.

They then closed my account at 12 hours notice (before I had even read the email) and locked me out of their online control panel so that I could not fix my email passwords. Because I was unable to lon in to the control panel, I had no access to online support. They used to have an email address support@namesco.co.uk but I think they no longer look at that – they certainly haven't replied to mine. They don't even auto-respond saying it is no longer in service because they prefer to keep you in limbo.

It took numerous engaged tones and two waits in queue of about 30 minutes each to finally reach their telephone tech support and resolve the issue.
